On May 8, 2008 I go in to the dentist to have one wisdom tooth removed, the procedure goes fine, I go home and am given Tylenol 3, Steroids, and Antibiotics. Well of course I am having terrible side effects so I call my doctor on May 11 and he says stop the antibiotics and Tylenol, use salt water rinses and Advil. I still feel weird 2 weeks after stopping the meds so I pay a visit to the doctor and tell him my first of many symptoms to come. I tell him that I feel drowsy at times, dizzy, and I feel like I’m not always there, and it was very hard to explain the feeling of not being there, after a few weeks of searching on the net, I found out the feeling of not being there is a very common occurrence that happens during a panic attack called Derealization. So the doctor and I agree that I suffer from Anxiety from my stressful work envoronment (Restaurant Supervisor). The doctor at first refused to give me meds for this and told me to relax. That didn’t work so I was put on a weak dose (5mg) of Cipralex, a SSRI antidepressant which can also be used for Anxiety. He said take it for a month and tell me how you feel. It was perfect timing too because I had a 10 day vacation coming up. Well the vacation did nothing for me; 3 weeks into treatment I have every side effect from the pill, worse anxiety, muscle twitiching (like my hands actually moved on their own it was scary)constipation, irritation, personality change, etc. So I was taken off of them at the end of August, I started them at the end of July. I felt much better after getting off the pills many symptoms went away like anxiety and drowsiness and the derealization. My sex drive also returned. Despite all of those symptoms disappearing I still had this vague feeling like something was wrong with me (malaise). Well I was right because I still had minor tremors (hand shakieness), started getting frequent headaches, and started getting muscle disconfort in my hamstring area. That translated into pain and now the arms feel weak too, my grip doesn’t feel as tight and I have to try harder to move my limbs, not much harder, but a noticeable difference. I started getting pain in my testicles, I had this problem 2 years ago but it went away on its own, the only thing the ultrasound showed was a 2mm calcification on my right kidney, which was nothing serious, but now my pain has returned. Going to see a urololgist on October 29th. Sharp chest pain that I had 2 years ago diagnosed as Chest Wall Pain has also returned. Now I am getting pain in my jaw and tooth where the surgery was performed almost 5 months after the surgery and I don’t know what the hell is wrong with me. The newest symptom is photophobia, not meaning im scared of light but meaning light outside hurts my eyes even with my transitional glasses on. I told my mom all of these symptoms and she is starting to think I am a hyperchondriac, which is why I’m scared to tell my doctor all of these symptoms, he’ll think its ridculous for a human being to have this many symptoms. I have not seen the doctor since the end of August because his diagonosis was stress at the workplace, see how your life is when you go back to school in septemeber and see if symptoms go away. They have not so I am going back but I want some feedback first. Did the surgery like trigger something in my body? Did the surgeon hit a serious nerve and screw up everything? Is all this stuff have nothing to do with the surgery is it all just a coincidence?
After doing a lot of research trying to figure out whats wrong the closet conditions or disorders that sound like what I have are linking to the thyroid.
•Silent Thyroiditis, it is Thyroiditis that is hard to detect and you go through phases, first hyperthyroidism which causes anxiety, then after 3 months hypothyroidism, which is the opposite, and coincidentally my anxiety disappeared after 3 months, and then you go back to normal, and the cycle repeats for a year. So maybe currently I’m in the hypothyroidism stage?
•Hyperthyroidism
•Hypothyroidism
•Thyroid Cancer
•Encephalitis
These are about the only things I found so far that have most of my symptoms. Any help would be appreaciated. I have a list below of all my symptoms, not all were mentioned up top.
Symptoms in Chronological Order:
•Malaise (I have this big feeling that I don’t feel normal or I don’t feel like what I once was)
•Drowsiness (Gone now)
•Dizziness (Only when I have a headache or come out of an elevator)
•Derealization (Gone now)
•Anxiety (Gone now, though I do worry about whats wrong with me, but no panic attacks)
•Progressive Muscle Weakness (Legs are worse,
